Poltrot (20km) A Bradbury family favourite, A fantastic spot to relax for the day, A maze, tree climbing course, and various other activities available its a lovely spot on the edge of a river where you ca spend ours watching the canoes going past, paddle over the stepping stones or swim in the lifeguarded(summer only) river beach. ice creams and bar snacks available during the summer months, or pack a picnic and enjoy being outside in the French country side.
Beau Vallon A not so secret spot, where many French families can be found on the glorious sunny days in the Charente . A gorgeous inland lake surrounded by pine forests, Take a stroll around or have a dip in the mineral blue water to cool off, There is a safe swimming area and also the availability to higher boats and pedlos. Then pop to the bar for a refreshing drink or a meal to finish of the day(20km)
Lac Jameye A large inland lake surrounded by gorgeous pine forests, Very popular and a day is always enjoyed there. Take a lovely walk around the lake to a nature reserve at the far end and take part in the various obstacles on the way. St Aulaye River side beach with a tree climbing trail amongst the forest and the lovely village just up the hill to have a wonder around. right on the beach is a fantastic Pizza restaurant which fills up quickly in the summer months.(15km)
Chalais Open Air Pool (summer only)With diving boards and toddler pool who cant have fun. Tight trunks do have to be warn but it s a great spot to spend a couple of hours. Children over a certain age and swimming ability can go in unsupervised and there is a great viewing area to watch or read the afternoon away. (1km)
Aubetere river beach Visit the beautiful village of Aubetere and wonder through the quaint streets lined with some stunning boutiques. then stroll down to the river and have a dip, watch the canoeists float by or have a go yourself. (19km)
Parcoul Canoeing hire a canoe or kayak for the day/half or a couple of hours, they will drop you upstream and you follow the route back to base, stop along on one of the banks for a picnic, remember your sun cream!(5km)

Guizengeard clay quarry,( summer only)there’s a nature trail through to an artificial lake created to fill the holes left by the quarryworks’ excavation of kaolin, a white-coloured clay that gives the water a spectacular turquoise tint. jet skies quad bikes( pre-booked) and a couple of water slides next to a bar make for a fab afternoon of fun.
